Brazilian pianist, singer, composer and arranger Eliane Elias was scheduled to play the Dakota Tuesday night, May 1st with shows at 7:00 and 9:00.

Due to a family emergency, Elaine  has had to cancel her May 1 concerts.  Our thoughts are with Eliane at this time, and The Dakota is  working on rescheduling this performance for a date sometime this summer.

Her new album, Music from Man of La Mancha, debuted at #1 on the Billboard chart.

In the mid-90s, the composer of the music for Man of La Mancha (1964) reached out to Elias, hoping she’d rework some compositions into an album. Mitch Leigh was a big fan of hers, and Elias jumped at the chance.

Contractual issues prevented the album from getting released until this year, and she’s touring with her band to highlight the album.

Elias spoke with Jazz88’s Emily Reese about Man of La Mancha and her upcoming stop at the Dakota.

Originally aired Monday, Apr. 30 on the Morning Show with Emily Reese.
