Celebrate 30 Years of the Urban Hillbilly Quartet!
What began as a jam session in a humble St. Paul bar in 1995 has grown into the Urban Hillbilly Quartet (UHQ), an award-winning Twin Cities ensemble known for their eclectic blend of musical styles. With nine albums to their name and comparisons as diverse as R.E.M., The Jayhawks, and The Waterboys, UHQ delivers an unforgettable experience.
Featuring Erik Brandt (guitar, accordion, lead vocals), Jeremy Szopinski (electric guitar), Dave Strahan (electric guitar), Mike Schultz (bass), Celeste Kiewel (fiddle), and Jim Orvis (drums), this band has captivated audiences across the U.S. and overseas with their original music.

“These concrete jungle hayseeds from the wind-whipped plains of St. Paul are fervent eclectics, liable to wander into funk, Arabic, or Irish music at the drop of a hi-hat. But their true allegiance is to bands like the Flying Burrito Brothers and their descendants, who like to mash together country, bluegrass, and rock n’ roll.”
