DESCRIPTION:While the Selby Jazz Festival is happening outside\, The Globafo Trio will play inside The Golden Thyme Restaurant and Bar\, 1/3 block west of the festival stage. The Selby Jazz Festival was originally founded in 2002 by Mychael Wright (the then-owner of Golden Thyme) as a post-9/11 block party to unite the neighborhood. This trio is a reboot of sorts of John Penny’s group called Globafo that created Jazz based on folk music from around the globe. Steven Hobert on keys and Charlie Riddle on bass join John Penny in performing some core material from Globafo (Glo-bah-foh). They will add some UN-standard renditions of Jazz standards\, and some far from scripted free-play. John Penny also plays Sundays from 11am – 2pm at The Golden Thyme as a solo singer-song writer. Music supports the human spirit as it promotes unity\, harmony\, and peace. Come experience a slice of this.

Together\, they channel their individual projects—including Red Planet\, ThoughtCast\, and the Park Evans Quintet—into a singular\, highly interactive\, and emotive sound showcased on albums like Incendios.
