DESCRIPTION:While the Selby Jazz Festival is happening outside\, The Globafo Trio will play inside The Golden Thyme Restaurant and Bar\, 1/3 block west of the festival stage. The Selby Jazz Festival was originally founded in 2002 by Mychael Wright (the then-owner of Golden Thyme) as a post-9/11 block party to unite the neighborhood. This trio is a reboot of sorts of John Penny’s group called Globafo that created Jazz based on folk music from around the globe. Steven Hobert on keys and Charlie Riddle on bass join John Penny in performing some core material from Globafo (Glo-bah-foh). They will add some UN-standard renditions of Jazz standards\, and some far from scripted free-play. John Penny also plays Sundays from 11am – 2pm at The Golden Thyme as a solo singer-song writer. Music supports the human spirit as it promotes unity\, harmony\, and peace. Come experience a slice of this.

But this isn’t a musical about diagnoses or easy answers. It’s about the complicated humans underneath them. \nVenus de Mars brings her unmistakable punk-rock voice to the production as composer and live performer\, with her original music forming the foundation of the show’s score. For this expanded 2026 production\, Venus has further developed her musical contribution\, while Pimsler has written additional original music\, creating a deeper integration of rock\, movement\, and theatrical storytelling. \nAt the center of the show is SHRINK herself—a therapist who spends her days helping others make sense of their lives while confronting the reality that she is just as complicated\, vulnerable\, and unfinished as the people sitting across from her.
