Jazz88 and its licensee Minneapolis Public Schools are pleased to announce the hire of Dan Larkin to the position of Jazz88 KBEM Station Manager.
A native of Blue Earth, Minn., Larkin brings over 20 years of broadcast experience including on-air, production, and management positions at small- and large-market commercial stations and nationally-syndicated programs across the country. Most recently, Larkin has been co-owner/partner in Pied Piper Media and Director of Broadcasting and Technology for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx.
Larkin’s name and voice will be familiar to Jazz88 listeners as he also served as the station’s primary Traffic Reporter from 2016 to early 2018. He replaces Michele Jansen who recently stepped down as station manager.
Larkin said, “I’m excited to join this legendary station and to continue its mission to serve the Minneapolis Public Schools. KBEM is recognized as one of the top jazz stations in the nation. That’s due to the talented and dedicated staff of professionals, students, and volunteers who work on-air and behind the scenes to deliver the goods every day. As radio and the media industry continue to evolve, I see fantastic opportunities for us to engage with our audience and to grow our service to the Minneapolis Public Schools and our community. This is an exciting time to be joining KBEM. The public support of the station, through pledges, donations, and gifts is the key to our continued growth and success. I’m looking forward to expanding that support by providing even more value to the listeners, the students, and the community.”
Originally aired Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019 on the Morning Show with Emily Reese.
