PaviElle debuts new weekly Blues show Jan. 6

PaviElle French

Noted vocalist, composer, and educator, PaviElle French, is adding the titles of Jazz88 radio host and producer to her resume. Her DJ alter ego, Lady Luca, will present an expansive blues-based show as part of the station’s 12-hour blues music block on Fridays. The new program debuts Friday night, Jan. 6, from 9 to 11 p.m. CST, on Jazz88 (88.5 FM and streaming live and on-demand at jazz88.fm).

PaviElle says her intention with the new show, Luca’s Juke Joint, is to “take listeners on a journey through the traditions, evolution, and legacy of blues music.” She plans to shine a light on the musical contributions of Black Americans through time, and take a look at how the architects of the blues have a major influence on contemporary music. No matter what song she spins, PaviElle says, “the blues is always the throughline!”

Luca’s Juke Joint joins longtime drummer/singer and Jazz88 host, Bobby Vandell’s, Bridge To The Blues program as the local programs in the blues block, which runs from 7 p.m. Friday evenings to 7 a.m. Saturday mornings.
