Mushroom expert and author Melany Kahn hangs her hat in New England, but she’s coming to the Twin Cities this week for a series of events. Her book, “Mason Goes Mushrooming,” is inspiration for young people to get outside and start eyeing the forest floors this spring. My 6-year-old daughter is a budding mycologist herself, and gives the book her stamp of approval. I’ll talk with Melany Tuesday morning, May 16, at 8:41 AM. Melany Kahn is dropping into the Northfield Library Thursday afternoon (5/18), leading sessions at the Kenwood Community School and Kenwood Community Center on Friday (5/19), and dropping by Moon Palace Books on Saturday morning (5/20) before appearing at some members-only events with mushroom aficionado groups this weekend. – Travis Ryder, Jazz88 Program Director/Midday Host
