April is “Jazz Appreciation Month,” and Jazz88 is looking forward to celebrating with a concert honoring our 2025 Minnesota Jazz Legends: drummer Jay Epstein, pianist and Walker West Music Academy founder Grant West, Dixieland trombonist Art Katzman, and the late, award-winning jazz vocalist Debbie Duncan.
Presented by Jazz88, this special concert will be held at the Minnesota History Center (345 W. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, MN) on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased online here, or by calling 651-259-3015. $25 for adults, $12 for ages 5-17. MNHS members and Jazz88 listener members can save 20% by using promo code “Jazz88” at checkout.
These local icons will share their musical journeys, showcasing their lasting contributions to Minnesota’s rich jazz legacy, and will be accompanied by the Phil Aaron Trio, featuring Phil Aaron (piano), Graydon Peterson (bass), and Phil Hey (drums).
On the significance of this annual event, Patty Peterson shares: “I love being a part of preserving the history of jazz in Minnesota. Celebrating these artists showcases how jazz remains a vital and thriving art form in our community and beyond.”
This performance will be recorded for a later broadcast and archived for on-demand listening at Jazz88.fm.
This production of Minnesota Jazz Legends is made possible through funding from the Minnesota Legacy Amendment Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and Jazz88.
We hope to see you there!
