Patty Peterson Speaks with Jarrod Lawson Before His Dakota Show

Jarrod

Patty Peterson spoke with Jarrod Lawson before his concert TONIGHT at Dakota.

The secret’s out about Jarrod Lawson. The smoky-voiced soul singer from Portland, Oregon (now residing in Nashville) has exploded as an international sensation, topping charts, garnering awards, and leading the way forward into a renaissance of message-focused, modern soul-jazz fusion. Heavily inspired by the likes of Stevie Wonder, The Isley Brothers and other champions of soul, Jarrod carries the torch with his lyrical depth, breathtaking vocal ability and piano virtuosity.

“It’s the soul record of the year, no question”, proclaimed global tastemaker, Gilles Peterson, shortly before Jarrod’s eponymous debut album took runner-up position in Peterson’s prestigious Worldwide Awards. Lawson won the title of ‘Soul Artist of The Year’ at the Jazz FM Awards in London, and was dubbed “the hottest talent to hit soul music in at least ten years” by Echoes magazine. Perhaps greatest of all, Jarrod received a glorious endorsement from former First Lady, Michelle Obama, citing Lawson as one of her current favorites during an interview with Newsweek.
