Diversity Statement

Jazz88 strives to be diverse in all aspects of its operations. Housed in Minneapolis Public Schools’ North Academy of Arts and Communications, Jazz88 offers classes to students enrolled in Radio I and II classes. The student population in the Minneapolis Public Schools is richly diverse with over 90 languages spoken.

Our Students

We commit to ensuring that opportunities, resources and services are distributed to students based on need. Students must be supported in ways that maximize learning potential. Equity is not sharing opportunities, resources and services equally between all students – it is raising achievement for all while closing the gaps between highest and lowest performing students.

Our Staff

We are comprised of a unique blend of people, who come from different heritages and experiences, with a range of cultures, perspectives and talents. Diversity is one of our core values and is essential to our goal of putting children first and making them college-ready.

Our Programming

While Jazz88 is primarily a jazz station, other formats that appeal to multiple age and cultural groups are included.

We commit to ensuring that opportunities and resources are available to students and members of the community who want to positively impact students’ lives. We partner with diverse business networks and community organizations to enhance the learning experience our students through service learning and community-based enrichment.

We commit to providing business opportunities to minority, women and diverse business enterprises. We recognize that utilizing diverse businesses is essential to our future success. We serve a student, parent and community base with a wide range of backgrounds and increasingly diverse needs.
