Composing guitarist and singer John Penny and the Virtual Band bring musical inspiration to The High Hat with original World Jazz and American Roots music. With decades of experience playing Jazz while scoring music and designing sound for film, this evolving project brings custom backing soundscapes with exotic instruments from around the World to the stage. Penny’s guitar explorations respond to lyrical statements sung in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Composing and embellishing new songs with a Virtual Band allows Penny to serenade audiences with new compositions shortly after their creation. Collaboration with peers on these original songs broadens the performance possibilities.
