String Theory host Kevin Barnes welcomes banjo maestro and muse Béla Fleck to the show.
Béla will be joining his music and life partner Abigail Washburn to perform at Live at The Guthrie Monday, February 26th celebrating their latest album “Echo in the Valley”.
Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn are two of the least complacent musicians you’ve encountered. With transcendent skill, they both innovate, moving their sound beyond bluegrass/old time and into everything from jazz, to progressive rock to African and Eastern sensibilities. They’re also married with a toddler, Juno, which only enhances their musical partnership. Echo in the Valley, their latest album together, showcases a banjos-only instrumental philosophy, with no guest players and nothing on record that they can’t duplicate in a live setting. Echo in the Valley is their second album as a duo — the first, a 2014 self-titled release, won a Grammy .
Béla and Abigail will be performing as part of the Live at the Guthrie series at the Guthrie Theater on Monday, February 26th.
