Ask an Expert: Digging into Plants found around the Twin Cities and on the Campuses of Minneapolis Public Schools

 

Divine Islam is MPS’s School Gardner, responsible for planning and facilitating trips to the Education Farm featuring over two thousand square feet of growing space, along with supporting the over forty school gardens that are a part of Minneapolis Public Schools. Shannon Nordby teaches science at Roosevelt High School, which is home to hydroponic plants, pollinator gardens, kitchen garden, outdoor greenhouse and raised beds.

 

Divine and Shannon spoke about the difference between Native, Indigenous and Medicinal plants found not only on the campuses of Minneapolis Public Schools but throughout the Twin Cities and shared some of their favorites.
