Hot New Local Single: Kavyesh Kaviraj

After having the pleasure of writing about one of the tunes on pianist Kavyesh Kaviraj’s debut album, Fables, I knew I couldn’t stop there. Track seven, titled “Lullaby,” starts out with relaxed percussion, followed by piano and an enchanting melody delivered by Omar Abdulkarim (trumpet) and Pete Whitman (saxophone). It’s all so dreamy! Kaviraj’s piano solo also deserves mention as its tranquility sets the mood for the entire song. After a dynamic section replete with strings and shared improvisation from the horns, the circular spirit of the song rings through when the opening percussion reappears to close the piece. Check out “Lullaby” from Kavyesh Kaviraj’s Fables album.
