Too Busy to Pick Your Holiday Shows? Jazz88 Can Help

Jazz88 knows that the holiday times can be stressful. Maybe you promised your spouse a night on the town. Maybe you want to get OUT. Maybe you are going it alone this holiday season. Whatever the reason, it is the season to celebrate with song. It’s not too late to plan your holiday outing, here are some of Jazz88’s picks for the season.

Want to get out this weekend?

José James makes it back for the holidays consistently and this year does not disappoint. Catch him Friday, Dec 13 or Saturday, Dec 14 at 7pm at the Dakota. Info here.

When I think of how I want to celebrate the holidays, I think of Maud Hixson’s voice and a piano. A drink in my hand and the warmth of the Crooners decor surrounding me. Friday, Dec 14 at 430 or 730pm go soak up all the holiday feelings with Maud Hixson. Info here.

This show says it may rip your heart out. That sounds more like a Halloween event to me. 😛 But seriously the Jake Schabart Jazz Orchestra is going to present you with lots of holiday favorites with a SIXTEEN PIECE professional big band. Go big or go home. So get out of your house and enjoy the holidays big band style at MetroNOME. You can celebrate in the afternoon of Dec 15th at 1pm or 4pm.

Weekday Fun

Head over to The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis this coming Monday, December 16, to hang out with THREE! the power trio of Join Judi Vinar, Rachel Holder and Lori Dokken. Dining starts at 5pm and music starts at 530pm. Get into the holiday spirit with these great musicians.

To kick it all off, did you know Judy Collins will be in town? Yes, THE Judy Collins is bringing you Holiday tunes along with her hits. Spend your Thursday, December 19th with Judy at Parkway Theater. Info here.

Patty Peterson is a stellar singer. Worth going out on a Monday or Tuesday to see. Oh, and she has a bunch of famous amazing musician siblings! If you have friends or work associates you need to take out for holiday fun, get some tickets to Twas the Jam Before Christmas at the Dakota.

Weekend Before Christmas

Friday night you can get cozy and christmas-y with Brian Eng at Crooners. Let yourself and your family really soak in all the holiday classics you love with pianist and actor, Brian Eng. Info here.

Do YOU want to SINGALONG? Dan Chouinard has been giving us the opportunity to do just that at Crooners for years. So how about you join him Saturday, December 22 at 4pm or 7pm to join the fun.

Christmas Time is Here

Want to hear some music ON Christmas? We have a local tradition option. Go see The Bad Plus at the Dakota. The Bad Plus plays EIGHT shows starting with two on Christmas Day. I, myself, have wanted to check this out for as long as it has been going on. Maybe this year I will take in a show. This band is stellar and always worth seeing in person. Add the band with the atmosphere of the Dakota and I can’t think of a better place to get a drink and hear some music. Info here.

New Year’s Glitz and Glam

You want to ring in the New Year with a powerhouse voice? You can look no further than Crooners who has the Joyann Parker Band playing a show at 7pm and 10:30pm. Why not ring in the New Year with some soul nourishing music? And maybe some food too. 🙂 Info here.

Berlin is new-ish on the scene and has a NYE event planned for early birds and night owls. They have THREE different shows in one night. The tickets include an hour long show with Steve Kinney’s Quintet and three snacks.  Check it out here.

You know who would be fun to hang out with on NYE? Davina! of Davina & the Vagabonds at the Dakota. Davina will have two live shows AND if you don’t want to leave your home there is a livestream show on NYE. You can go for dinner aka before midnight or the cocktail show aka stay for midnight. More info here.
