George Benson – “One Goodbye” from Dreams Do Come True – Listen Here
“One Goodbye” is the last track on George Benson’s recent album Dreams Do Come True, but certainly not the least! The song opens with some atmospheric string work, but then gains traction with Benson’s smooth vocals. ‘Dreamy’ is the perfect description for “One Goodbye.” The album was recorded 35 years ago, but the master tapes were lost. Now, it’s finally getting the release it deserves! Benson’s guitar work, which opens the song, establishes the water-like flow that the song carries throughout. Give Dreams Do Come True a chance, and listen to “One Goodbye”. – LS
Alan Braufman – “Brooklyn” from Infinite Love Infinite Tears – Listen Here
“Brooklyn” is a track from saxophonist and flutist Alan Braufman’s newest album, Infinite Love Infinite Tears. The tune is an animated and buoyant showcase of Braufman’s excellent flute skills and composing talents. Braufman really knows how to exhibit his group’s musical abilities, and the sound is proof of there being a strong understanding between members James Brandon Lewis (tenor saxophone), Patricia Brennan (vibraphone), Ken Filiano (bass), Chad Taylor (drums), and Michael Wimberly (percussion). This album is the third one released under Braufman’s name since his debut in 1975, because his primary focus has been performing with other artists. “Brooklyn” perfectly encapsulates what a positive vibe should feel like. – LS
Hiatus Kaiyote – “Everything’s Beautiful” from Love Heart Cheat Code – Listen Here
Hiatus Kaiyote is an Australian band with a lot of funk. Their newly released album, Love Heart Cheat Code, has a super groovy track called “Everything’s Beautiful,” with some serious vocals from Nai Palm on it. The album is full of stories based on Palm’s lived experiences. The songs make you think and feel, and the funk will, no doubt, get your head nodding. “Everything’s Beautiful” offers a variety of sounds for you to take notice of, with my favorite being the flute. Listen through Hiatus Kaiyote’s Love Heart Cheat Code for some funk-filled jazz. – LS
