The duo known as Pierpont & Helgeson are out of the Twin Cities and an extension of the long running funk and soul label, Secret Stash Records.
The multi-instrumentalists, composers and producers function as essentially a studio project and offered a slew of drops of ambitiously funky, cinema phonic and ambient musical excursions this past year. Coming out of the gate hard in 2026, the two recently released their debut, Of Time – a full length collection of studio creations.
Pierpont and Helgeson’s effort to “channel early 70’s heist-film energy and dim-lit lounges with the elegance of easy listening meeting the grit of rock and a heavy, funky pulse” bursts through on the this weeks Hot New Local Single, “Bad Medicine.”
Firing on all cylinders from the jump with syncopated rhythms, slinking horn washes and waves of psychedelic guitar leads and bass grooves, “Bad Medicine” keeps you in suspense as much as it will keep you dancing.
